Finished Five: Tool Cleaners, Saje, GrandeLash, and Kevin Murphy
Name: Liquid BeautyBlender Cleanser
Price: CAD $18
Size: 3 FL OZ/90 mL Cruelty-Free and Vegan
In my opinion this is definitely expensive, but I did not need to use much of it. I typically would use 3-4x as much dish soap to get my beauty blenders looking clean. This lasted me more than a couple of months, and was great for makeup brushes too. This size is nice for travel and would fit in a carry-on. I would probably repurchase when/if I had the cash, although it is an intimidating purchase for just a cleaning product with the 3 OZ bottle checking out at CAD $25 and the 10 OZ bottle checking out at CAD $40.
Name: Cinema Secrets Professional Grade Brush Cleaner
Price: For the Makeup Brush Cleaner Travel Set I purchased that comes with a small tin to clean your brushes in, it rings up at CAD $10 Size: 2 FL OZ/60mL NOT Vegan, but Cruelty-Free The main perk of this product is that it gets your brushes super clean AND super dry within seconds. The downside, however, is that it REAKS of a strong, paint-like, harsh chemical-like scent, and is soaked up so quickly by brushes that you end up going through a lot of it. It is also (to my knowledge) not suitable to clean sponges.
Name: Saje Sentiva Soothing Body Lotion
Price: CAD $16.95
Size: 3.4 FL OZ/100mL All Saje products are Cruelty-Free and many are Vegan as well, with the exception of some products that contain beeswax. To my knowledge, this particular product is vegan from what I can make of the ingredients list.
Noteworthy Ingredients: Rose Flower Water and Shea Butter
I really love this product! It is light, it doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy at all, and doesn’t irritate sensitive or dangerously dry skin. You can also use this as a shoe polish, and it has very little scent. However, I have huge problems with the packaging. Because this is a runnier lotion, every time you open the cap a fair amount of lotion spurts out at you and all over you. As well, the labelling on the bottle rubs off almost immediately. As you can see from the picture of my own Sentiva tube posted below, you can barely tell where this product has come from let alone what it is called, even though I have only had this tube for a few months. However, I do believe that Saje is planning on eventually rebooting the packaging of this product like they did with their other body products recently (if not, I really hope they change their mind and consider it!). If you do purchase this, which I definitely recommend you do, I’d say it’s wisest at this moment in time to purchase the glass pump bottle in the larger size, because the tube is just frustrating.
Name: grandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum
Price: CAD $87
Size: 2mL Cruelty-Free and Vegan
Noteworthy Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid, L-Proline, and Glycosaminoglycans
For me, this product worked exactly as it said it would. My lashes became noticeably longer after about 6 weeks of use of this product, even though I didn’t religiously apply it every day. However, I don’t think I would repurchase anytime soon. I think products like grandeLASH and Latisse are incredible in different ways, but long eyelashes just hit my glasses and irritate me, and having to continue to purchase this product for the rest of my life to maintain these results is something I just don’t personally prioritize. However, it is a great option for those who really love having long lashes! The product lasts months if you only use a small amount one a day, and you don’t need to pile it on to get results (or at least I didn’t need to). I’d much rather just save my money and leave my lashes as is, or try a cheaper product with less noticeable results like Saje Herbal Balm.
Name: Kevin Murphy FRESH.HAIR Dry Cleaning Spray (dry shampoo)
Price: I purchased this from The Makeup Lounge & Style Bar a few months ago, and unfortunately no longer have my receipt for the exact price! I believe it was around CAD $40.
Size: 8.45 FL OZ/250mL Sulphate-Free, Paraben-Free, and Cruelty-Free, and participates in many enviro-friendly initiatives
Noteworthy Ingredients: Tangerine Peel
This product grew on me. It has an orange/creamsicle sort of smell because of the tangerine peel, which isn’t my favourite smell out there but does smell nice. The more I got used to this dry shampoo began to enjoy it more. The white cast is easily brushed out, which is something I have struggled with with other dry shampoos in the past. Because of the quality of the product, how often I used it, and the company’s environmental initiatives, I am actually repurchasing this tomorrow!
